On the heels of announcing the installation of 10,000 fortified roofs in Louisiana, Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple announces another round of fortified roof grants.
Temple says the application period opens tomorrow morning and will be open for one week.
“We’ve got a thousand grants that we’re going to be awarding to applicants on that,” Temple said.
Temple says the procedure is the same as the previous one – it’s a lottery; and if you had registered for a previous lottery, your registration is still active for this next drawing.
“You don’t have to be first in and first out to become an applicant for the grant,” Temple noted.
The grant program is limited to those who live in the coastal zone, as well as in Lake Charles, Sulphur and Westlake. Temple says this will by no means be the last grant period for Louisiana’s fortified roof program.
“That’s a strong commitment the state of Louisiana is showing, that we care and we want as many fortified roofs as possible because that is the long-term solution to affordable insurance and coastal Louisiana,” Temple said.
