On the Wednesday edition of his daily program, WWL’s Newell Normand called out Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee for President in the upcoming November election, for what called a “reversal” of a previously-held stance, which he alleges is an attempt to sway voters to her side.

“She was in Michigan the other day, and she said, ‘Contrary to what my opponent is suggesting, I will never tell you what kind of car you have to drive,’ which reversed her support for banning gas powered vehicles,” Normand said.

“In fact,” he continued, “she co-sponsored the legislation by Sen. Jeff Merkley: The Zero Emission Vehicles Act of 2019. And it was purely designed to transition the U.S. economy to electric vehicles by 2040.”

Normand pointed out that Harris actually wanted a tighter schedule than what was outlined in the bill.

“She spoke favorably of enhancing those deadlines and making them sooner,” he said. “And she wanted to reach 100% of zero emission by 2035.
But not anymore.”

Normand said it’s a trend he believes is taking hold in hotly-contested political races all across the country, saying he got a first-hand look at some of the campaign ads for local races in the northern part of the U.S. during a recent trip, calling some of the ads “brutal.”
