What is so difficult for Orleans Parish that it can't get its act together like the other 63 parishes in Louisiana? A fired up WWL host Newell Normand asked that question after news came down that the parish had failed again to meet a tax deadline.

"It seems as though every day I wake up and there's another headline ... about the inability to deal with administerial acts," Normand said, adding "For some reason, the city of New Orleans marches to the beat of a different drum and it doesn't make any sense to me."

The same deadlines happen at the same time every year, leaving Normand in disbelief about how it could have been missed.

"For whatever reason, our people seem not to be able to get their heads around it," Normand said.

There doesn't seem to be any explanation for missing the deadline, he added, and working toward the common good of being able to finance city government.

Missing the deadline means residents may get two tax bills.

"It continues to be a problem," Normand said, 'It's not rocket science, everybody else seems to be able to do it."
