WWL's Newell Normand addressed listener texts on the topic of Jan. 6 and why he hasn't been talking about the former president during his show, saying "We need to put Donald Trump in our rearview mirror and move on."
He added that he doesn't think there's anything else to say about Jan. 6. The culprits are being charged and pushed through the legal system and that's the end of that story.
As for Trump, polls show that he's currently leading in five of the six swing states, but Normand said that'll probably change, especially since the former president is 'caught up in court.'
"We're finally waking up and understanding the get out the vote effort is critically important," he said, adding that what's playing out in the U.S. is a battle for the center.
And those in the center are going to elect the next president.
"I'm a Republican, but I'm not one who refuses to criticize Republicans because I don't think that's healthy. To just go along, get along, think everything's hunky-dory. I'm not one that's going to jump on an idiot bandwagon if that's what it is at one moment in time. I'm one who'll point out the ideocracy .. This is crazy."
Trump lost the last election for a reason, Normand said, and 'a lot of what happened the last time might happen again this time.'
