The NFL Draft starts tonight in Green Bay, Wisconsin. For the last ten years, the draft has been held in a different NFL city.
When will it be New Orleans' turn?
After hosting the Super Bowl for the eleventh time, leaders in the city are setting their sights on the league's other annual prime-time event.
"We've been kind of pushing that," said New Orleans & Company CEO Walt Leger III.
Leger says he thinks the draft. happening the same time as Jazz Fest's opening weekend and the PGA's Zurich Classic. would be incredible.
"I think in the past, there were some concerns about doing them in alignment but I think we're at a place where we can get that done and I hope we can have a real conversation about it as time goes on because that event's gotten to be really cool," Leger said.
"Jazz Fest is a major event for us, but we're about 70, 75 percent occupancy at that time," he said. "If you could put the draft on top of jazz Fest, then you basically create the Super Bowl."
