The NFL Honors will be held at Saenger Theater and broadcast to the entire nation at 8pm central tonight. The theater has undergone massive renovations, and General Manager David Skinner says it’s been a tremendous undertaking. Speaking to WWL’s Tommy Tucker, Skinner said, “Changing the building, doing seat removal for camera locations, I can’t even describe the work that’s been done. People can still see the stars in the ceiling, and it’s just going to look phenomenal on television tonight.”

While the preparation for the event has been a long process, Skinner doesn’t expect the transition back to normal to be a grueling one.  “Getting ready takes much longer than it does to take it out. It took a week to get the theater set ready to go, and it will only take three days to take it out,” illustrates Skinner. A Broadway show is set to kick off at the theater directly after the NFL Honors set is picked up, so Skinner says theater staff is staying prepared for the quick turnover.

The event will be hosted by Snoop Dogg and will feature a bevy of celebrities from every walk of life. Award presenters will include Jon Hamm, Jelly Roll, Drew Brees, Barry Sanders, and many others. “We’re all looking forward to letting New Orleans shine the way we know it can shine,” adds Skinner. “I couldn’t ask for a better group of people to work with than the folks with the NFL we’ve worked with here,” he goes on to say.
