Nine wounded in six shootings Sunday in New Orleans

Bullets were flying Sunday in New Orleans from the very early hours of the day until just before it ended.

When it was over nine people had been wounded, including women and children.


It started with a shooting just after 1:00am on Bourbon Street.  A woman and a bouncer got into an argument, when police say the woman pulled out a gun and opened fire.

Investigators say one bullet wounded all of the women with "a single shot that fragmented and struck three victims."

They arrested the 19-year-old alleged shooter listed as "White Female  DOB:12/24/2003  Savannah Bowman."

A news release says the three female's shot, "All suffered graze wounds."

Shortly after noon on Sunday a child was shot.

"The NOPD is investigating a shooting that reportedly occurred in the 2200 block of Leonidas Street."

A release says that a 13-year old male was taken by private conveyance to a local hospital for a gunshot wound

Just before 7:30pm another child was shot along the Lafitte Greenway in gunfire that also wounded a woman.

"The NOPD is investigating a shooting that occurred this evening in the 2400 block of St. Louis Street."

Cops say A 14-year-old girl and an adult female were wounded.

About 90 minutes later more gunfire sent a man to the hospital.

"The NOPD is investigating a shooting that occurred in the 7000 block of Lawrence Rd.".

The release say an adult male suffred a gunshot wound to his body.

"He was transported by EMS to a local hospital for treatment."

Around 11:30pm, another woman was shot.

"The NOPD is investigating a shooting in the 6800 block of Parc Brittany Blvd... Initial reports show a female victim with a gunshot wound."

The news releas says she was taken to a local hospital.

Then just minutes before midnight two more people were shot.

"The NOPD is working a shooting in the 4900 blk of Dowman Rd... Initial reports show two victims....age, sex unknown at this time."
