New Orleans firefighters fought a heavy smoke producing blaze at home off South Solomon Street and D’Hemecourt in Mid-City this morning.
NOFD Crews responded to reports of thick black smoke seen rising from the scene just after 6am.
The fire spread from one large house to two duplexes and rang in three alarms before it was knocked down.
In all 48 firefighters and were on scene fighting the blazes.
By 8am the fire was out and recovery was underway.
Broadcast reports say two dogs suffered smoke inhalation and needed oxygen.
In all 22 people were displaced from the three structures which were heavily damaged with the large home that initially caught fire being destroyed by the flames.
Red Cross personnel responded to the scene to aid the displaced residents with finding shelter.
