New Orleans firefighters were called to a fourplex Tuesday afternoon in Midcity.
"At 2:31 p.m., the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) received a 911 call reporting a fire at 236 S. Murat Street," according to a news release.
The first company arrived to find the two-story wood frame fourplex with smoke billowing from the back of the building.
"Neighbors stated that they heard a boom, then noticed smoke afterwards and called the fire department."
It took crews forty-five minutes to locate the source of smoke between the lower and upper floors.
They then called for a second alarm before getting the fire under control around 3:45.
"Seven residents were assisted by the American Red Cross... and two missing cats were reunited with a family."
It took Sixteen NOFD units carrying forty-four personnel to put out the blaze.
There were no injuries reported.
The cause is under investigation.
