New Orleans firefighthers are investigating two separate New Year's morning blazes, including a three-alarm apartment fire in Algiers has left 18 people homeless.
The Algiers fire started around 1 a.m. Thursday at an apartment complex on West Park Court just off Cypress Acres Drive.
Firefighters say the blaze spread to three buildings before they were able to bring it under control around 2:45 a.m. Nobody was injured.
The second fire, a two-alarm blaze, started just before 2 a.m. in a two-story home on State Street Drive near Fontainebleau Drive. Firefighters said nobody was injured in that incident.
The causes of both fires remain under investigation.
