The NOLA Coalition, a collection of nearly 550 local nonprofits, civic organizations, and businesses that formed to seek solutions to the city of New Orleans crime problems, says it looks forward to working with New Orleans Police Superintendent nominee Anne Kirkpatrick, should she be confirmed by the New Orleans City Council.
"Kirkpatrick brings with her 35 years of experience in law enforcement, coupled with 20 years of leading police departments of larger municipalities than New Orleans," the coalition announced. "She will take over the NOPD from Interim Chief Michelle Woodfork, who has overseen a recent decrease in violent crime."
"Anne Kirkpatrick had, by far, the most experience in leadership, I think something like over 20 years of leading departments that were actually larger then new Orleans," said Michael Hecht, president of GNO Inc. and NOLA Coalition member.
"When she stated her priorities, which included improving staffing and reducing violent crime, those align very well with the NOLA Coalition priorities." Hecht said.
Hecht said he believes all 550 members of the NOLA Coalition are willing to offer their time and resources to help Kirkpatrick succeed.
