Superintendent of Police Shaun Ferguson went before the media today to announce the arrest of a 15-year-old juvenile who is facing charges in a triple murder at a home in Gentilly
But a number of other arrests have been made, solving a series of murders in the past few weeks.
The investigation remains open and active to determine the involvement of the 19-year old male arrested for illegal possession of a firearm
NOPD investigators have made an arrest in the killing that occurred on August 31st.
Roderick Magee, 35, has been apprehended by homicide detectives.
He facing charges for the killing that took place near the corner of Marais and Tupelo Streets.
Magee is also wanted for a shooting which occurred a week later on Tupelo and N. Derbigny Street
Another case closed by NOPD involves the high profile shooting that took place at St. Charles Avenue and Canal Street on September 8th.
Homicide detectives are currently preparing a case to present to the District Attorney involving the apprehension of a juvenile immediately following the shooting.
The investigation into this incident remains open and active.
Just yesterday, a suspect wanted in connection to a double murder from May, turned himself in.
Two brothers were initially arrested and now a third subject, 19-year-old Razaq Adekunle gave himself over to authorities and is facing two counts of second-degree murder
The victims in that incident were siblings – a 23-year-old male and a three-year-old male. A 48-year-old female was also wounded in that incident.
There have been 136 homicides in 2020 compared to 81 at the same point in 2019. In 2018 we had 114 homicides
