An argument led to a shooting on the northern edge of the Fauberg Marigny late Saturday night, leaving one person in a local hospital.
New Orleans police say that shooting happened just before midnight on St. Claude Avenue near Elysian Fields.
According to investigators, the victim and the gunman's fight escalated, leading to the victim brandishing a gun and a hammer. The victim, police say, then used the hammer to smash the window of the gunman's food truck. Investigators say the gunman thought he heard gunshots, so he shot at the victim, hitting him twice. The victim then drove himself to the hospital, where he is listed as stable.
The accused gunman remains at large. Police have not said what charges he or the man he shot will face for their alleged actions.
The case remains under investigation.
