A carjacking suspect is in custody after police say he ran into a Central Business District grocery store, forcing police to evacuate the business.
It happened around 8 p.m. Monday near the corner of O'Keefe and Girod.
According to investigators, Joel Miller, 38, used a pistol in an attempt to steal a car while the victim was taking items out of the car’s trunk. The victim fought off Miller, who, police say, then ran into the nearby Rouse’s Market.
The victim called police, who responded and arrested the suspect inside the store.
The evacuation kept the business closed for about an hour, but it reopened once police cleared the scene.
