NOPD arrests suspects in unrelated overnight killings

New Orleans Police Department homicide detectives made quick arrests in a pair of homicides overnight.

Cops booked 37-year-old Walita Eugene for a fatal shooting in the 4300 block of Louisa Drive. It happened shortly before 2 a.m. Officers investigating a disturbance found the victim and took Eugene into custody. Police say they believe the killing was the result of a domestic dispute.

Homicide detectives also arrested a suspect in a fatal shooting in the 3900 block of General Taylor Street, booking 62-year-old Mark Pohlen.

"In that case, Second District officers found an adult female victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound," said police. "New Orleans EMS declared the victim deceased on scene."
