New Orleans Police booked a 16-year-old in the Jan. 5 murder of a Tacoma, Washington tourist, the department announced Friday evening.
Jacob Carter was visiting the city with his husband when he was shot and killed at Bourbon and Kerlerec streets in the Faubourg Mairgny.
Earlier this week, police recovered a stolen Kia Optima from Bayou St. John believed to be connected to the case.
The teen suspect was arrested in Jefferson Parish on unrelated charges. Police say once he is released from Jefferson Parish custody, he will be transferred to New Orleans and booked for second degree murder.
The case remains open and police say anyone with information should call NOPD Homicide at (504) 658-5300, or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111 or toll free at (877) 903-7867 (STOP).
Callers to Crimestoppers do not have to leave their names and may be eligible for a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest and indictment.
