The NOPD Chief says the policing strategy they have implemented is working to drive down crime at twice the rate other cities are seeing across the country.
Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick says overall crime in New Orleans is down more than 25 percent.
"There is a national trend of downward on violent crime, but that trend is about 13%. We are more than double that, and that is not because we are riding the tailwind of a trend," the chief told WWL TV. "It is the result of intentional strategy."
She says agencies across the nation are looking to New Orleans for answers now.
"All eyes in the country are looking at New Orleans. Our numbers are amazing."

Kirkpatrick also wants to build on that success by using their accomplishments to attract 300 more officers to the historically small NOPD.
