New Orleans Police Chief Anne Kirkpatrick announced that New Orleans "is becoming safer and safer every year."
"Since 2022, we've had an amazing story to tell," said Chief Kirkpatrick.
She reported a 55 percent drop in murders over three years, with a decrease every year.
Kirkpatrick acknowledged that the decrease was smaller for 2025 over 2024, but insisted crime fighting strategies are still working.
"When you look at it over a three year period of time, what you will see is a significant drop," she said.
She noted that without the terror attack on Bourbon Street on the first day of 2025, the city saw a nearly 14 percent reduction in murders.
