Cops want help finding a man they say robbed a woman in a wheelchair, taking her purse from around her neck on Canal Street at Bourbon Street.
"The victim was sitting in her wheelchair when and unknown black male approached," according to an initial police report.
Now investigators say they have identified the man.
"New Orleans Police are asking the public's assistance with locating... Bernard Joseph Smith (pictured), Black male, DOB 02/09/1984, height 5' 1", and weight 112 pounds," NOPD said in a news release.
It happened on Memorial Day morning shortly before 6:30am.
"Anyone with information about the crime or the subject is asked to call Eighth District detectives at 504-658-6080 or to anonymously call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111."
A warrant is out for Smith's arrest.
