The NOPD is investigating a homicide that happened Tuesday in the 1600 block of South Liberty Street that left one person dead.
"At about 7:24 p.m., NOPD Sixth District officers responded to a call of shots fired at the location, Upon arrival, they discovered a male subject who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital, where he was later declared deceased," says an NOPD report.
Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person or persons responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death once an autopsy and notification of family is complete.
