A man was shot in Algiers according to the New Orleans Police Department.
The NOPD is investigating the shooting, which happened in the 3700 block of Garden Oaks Drive. It is not clear when the shooting happened, however, the department reported the shooting Tuesday at 1:33 p.m.
An initial police report shows one adult male sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the hospital by EMS says police. No further details are currently available.
The shooting comes on the heels of a series of shootings in New Orleans over the weekend.
A man was shot Sunday night on Downman Road, a 12-year-old girl was fatally shot on Delery Street in the 9th Ward, and a man was shot Monday night on Frenchmen Street.
The surge in violent crime in the city prompted New Orleans Police Chief Shaun Ferguson and Mayor Latoya Cantrell to call on the Louisiana State police to help police neighborhoods struggling with shootings, carjackings, and armed robberies.
