New Orleans Police homicide detectives are investigating a fatal shooting at Westbend Parkway and Herschel Street near the 3500 block of Gen. De Gaulle Drive.
Police say shortly after 6:30 p.m. Friday, officers were sent to investigate a call of a shooting in that location.
"Initial reports show an adult male with at least one gunshot wound to the body," said police in a statement.
The victim died after being taken to the hospital.

Callers to Crimestoppers do not have to leave their names and may be eligible for a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest and indictment.
