New Orleans police are working two homicides less than two hours apart on Thursday.

The first homicide happened in the 600 block of Socrates.

“At around 7:04, NOPD Fourth District officers responded to the call of a body lying in the street. Originally, deemed an unclassified death, it was later determined to be a homicide by shooting,” an NOPD spokesperson said.

Less than two hours later, at about 8:48 a.m. police were called to the 1800 block of Chippewa Street for an aggravated battery by cutting.

“Upon arrival, officers found an adult male. He was pronounced dead at the scene,” the NOPD said.

The investigations are ongoing and no further information is available at this time.
