New Orleans Police homicide detectives are investigating a fatal shooting in the 6300 block of Arts Street in Gentilly, about a block off Allen Toussaint Boulevard.
Police say officers responded to a call of a shooting around 9:45 a.m.
"On arrival, officers found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound," said Sgt. Barry Fletcher with NOPD.
The victim was found around the corner in the 2400 block of Mexico Street, but investigators later determined the crime happened on Arts.
Police said the victim was declared dead after EMS took him to the hospital.
