One man is dead after what police now say is the third shooting they've worked on Sunday and the second they've worked in New Orleans East during the day.
Officers responded to a call from Downman Road near Selma Street around 5:30 p.m. Sunday.
According to NOPD Officer Reese Harper, officers found the victim with an apparent gunshot wound to the body when they arrived. Ofc. Harper says EMS workers pronounced the man dead at the scene.
Ofc. Harper adds that investigators are working to develop suspects and a motive.
This incident is at least the fourth violent crime the NOPD has investigated on Sunday and the fifth in a 25-hour span. Two hours earlier, officers responded to a shooting in New Orleans East. Just before 3 p.m., officers got a call about a shooting in the Seventh Ward. Around 11 a.m., the NOPD got a call of a deadly stabbing in the Florida Area. Around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, officers worked a non-fatal shooting in New Orleans East.
