As violent crime swings upward, a recent New Orleans Crime Coalition survey finds only 35% of New Orleans Residents say the city is safe.
City spokesperson Beau Tidwell says it is important to note the hard work the NOPD is putting in to reduce crime.
“NOPD I think is doing a strong job and continuing to do so,” said Tidwell. “In addition their cold case unit has shown a lot of results this year. They’ve cleared nine cases, so far. That is compared to four in 2019 and two in 2020.”
When it comes to how well of a job the New Orleans Police Department is doing, 24% of the citizens say the city is not safe but they are satisfied with how the NOPD is tackling the violent crime problem.
