Two suspects in two separate homicides are in custody after a joint effort by the New Orleans Police Department and the U. S. Marshals Service.
According to an NOPD spokesperson, authorities arrested Jahlil Haroon, 22, and Earl Sylvester, 37, on Monday. Both men are facing second-degree murder charges in connection with their respective cases.
Haroon is accused of shooting a woman on December 3, 2021, during an incident in St. Roch. The victim later died at the hospital.
Sylvester is accused of fatally wounding a man in the Upper Ninth Ward. Police say Sylvester shot the victim on Port Street. That victim, authorities say, walked to a business about a block away on Almonaster Street to seek help. The victim later died at the hospital.
Both cases remain under investigation.
