Police in New Orleans need the public’s help in finding a vehicle believed to be involved in Sunday’s fatal hit-and-run crash in Algiers.

It happened at about 8:51 p.m. on Sunday at the intersection of General de Gaulle Drive and Westbend Parkway.
An NOPD report says, “The victim was operating his bicycle southbound on Westbend Parkway. At the same time, a dark colored vehicle – possibly a BMW 3 series sedan – was traveling westbound in the left travel lane on General de Gaulle Drive. The bicyclist disregarded the red traffic control light at the intersection of General de Gaulle Drive and Westbend Parkway and was struck by the dark colored vehicle.”
According to witnesses, the driver of the vehicle briefly stopped their vehicle before fleeing the scene. The victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition, but died a short time later.
Investigators are working to identify the vehicle pictured and its driver. The suspect vehicle would have heavy front-end damage and missing pieces to the front grill.
