The Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office says it accidentally released a prisoner due to mistaken identity. Thirty-year-old Khalil Bryan (pictured) faces charges in several violent and non-violent crimes, the sheriff's office confirmed.

"This incident was the result of human error: a misidentification based on a shared last name between two individuals," said Sheriff Susan Hutson. "We are currently conducting a full internal investigation, and I can confirm that disciplinary actions will occur."
Bryan is suspected of aggravated assault with a firearm, domestic abuse child endangerment, and home invasion. He is also wanted on charges of illegal possession of stolen property, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting an officer.
The sheriff's office says the victims in these crimes have been notified.
New Orleans Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick addressed Bryan directly, saying although it's not his fault he was let out of jail by mistake, "you are a fugitive. I'm going to ask that you turn yourself in."
Kirkpatrick warned anyone they think has helped him evade re-arrest could face charges, too.
Anyone with information on Khalil Bryan's whereabouts is asked to call Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111 or toll free at (877) 903-7867 (STOP).
Callers to Crimestoppers do not have to leave their names and may be eligible for a cash reward.
It is the latest incident bringing scrutiny to the sheriff's office and the parish jail.
Early in the morning of May 16, ten inmates escaped the jail by removing a toilet from the wall and crawling out through the hole it left behind.
After several weeks, nine of the ten were recaptured, while one escapee, convicted killer Derrick Groves, remains at large.
