The New Orleans Police Department said it had to call in its SWAT team when a man sought in connection with an ongoing investigation barricaded himself inside a home in the 3800 block of Ursula Spencer Way.
According to police, officers were looking for a suspect in multiple armed robberies.
"Responding officers were met at the door by a teenage male who barricaded himself inside the residence,' said police. "Attempts to negotiate failed so the NOPD Special Weapons and Tactics Unit was deployed shortly before 2:00 p.m."
Police say the SWAT team gained entry to the home about an hour later and took the 19-year-old into custody without incident.
