A 14-year-old boy is facing charges in connection with the shooting death of a 13-year-old boy over the weekend.
That shooting happened Sunday on Shubert Street in New Orleans East. According to investigators, the victim was walking in the street when someone fired a gun, shooting the victim. An EMS crew pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
According to a New Orleans Police Department spokesperson, the 14-year-old surrendered to authorities Tuesday night and booked into the Juvenile Justice Intervention Center. The suspect turned himself in after authorites received a warrant for his arrest. The suspect is facing negligent homicide, obstruction of justice, and illegal use of weapons charges.
The case remains under investigation.
