New Orleans police are searching for a man they say shoplifted and then tried to shoot a store employee who tried to stop him.
The incident happened around 7:20 a.m. Sunday on Read Boulevard near Morrison Road.
According to investigators, the employee tried to prevent the suspect from leaving the business. That’s when, investigators say, the suspect pulled the gun and attempted to fire it. The gun malfunctioned, preventing the suspect from shooting the employee. The suspect then ran out of the business and away from the scene.
