The New Orleans Police Department has seen a rise in citizen satisfaction. In a recent survey, public satisfaction with the job the NOPD is doing climbed to 47% from its previous point of 40% last year.
The New Orleans Crime Coalition commissioned the survey (conducted by Faucheaux Strategies, LLC) and seems to show a rising public sentiment toward Anne Kirkpatrick.
In speaking to WWLTV’s Brandon Walker, Crimestoppers President and CEO Darlene Cusanza emphasized the findings. “This is the sixteenth survey we’ve done, so it really gives a longitudinal study of where public perception is when it comes to their satisfaction. And it’s done independently, that’s important for us,” Cusanza noted.
During Kirkpatrick’s tenure as Superintendent since 2023, NOPD approval has risen by 16 percentage points.
Before her tenure in office, the survey identified public sentiment as being at an all-time low.
Overall satisfaction with the NOPD is now at its highest since back in 2021. “We’ve continued to see a positive growth in the overall satisfaction of the NOPD, but also in the perception of public safety,” Cusanza explained.
She also noted that the NOPD has used the information within these studies to help craft their mission statements and processes going forward.
