The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office is warning residents about increasing sightings of black bears.
"We’ve received reports of a bear being seen on camera in neighborhoods in the Covington/Abita Springs area," STPSO posted.
Officials say they have no reports of bears hurting anyone, and want to keep it that way.
"Keep your distance and do not attempt to feed the bear (it is a wild animal that could potentially eat you)."
The sheriff's office had some fun with the situation with a post that made reference to picknic baskets and honey.
STPSO says people should take steps to make their yard less attractive to a bear.
"Lock up your trash... Take down bird feeders if you notice a bear hanging out in your backyard a little too long, hide the picnic baskets, resist the urge to take selfies... Stay safe folks and maybe keep an eye on your honey supply."
