St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Randy Smith has fired a lieutenant in the criminal patrol division for allegedly covering up a crash one of her deputies caused.
"Victoria Stelfox, was terminated and arrested for Malfeasance in Office and Filing or Maintaining False Public Record," Sergeant Suzanne Carboni said in a news release.
Investigators say Stelfox lied to cover up for one of her subordinates.
"Stelfox, a lieutenant in the criminal patrol division, was arrested after she fabricated a hit-and-run accident report when a deputy who worked under her was involved in a minor single-vehicle crash."
She worked for the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office since September 2005.
“It is a very sad day when you have to arrest one of your own employees,” Sheriff Randy Smith said, “but no one is above the law.”

According to ratemyprofessors.com, Stelfox also taught criminal justice at Loyola University. She has ratings as recently as earlier this year.
Her name, however, does not currently appear on the faculty and staff page of the Criminology and Justice Department on Loyola's website.
