St. Tammany sheriff's office deputies arrested a student after a fight Friday at a Northshore high school.
Around 11 a.m., a school resource officer was called to break up a fight in the cafeteria.
"While attempting to break up the altercation, the School Resource Officer was elbowed in the face, and four teachers were kicked or hit," said Lt. Suzanne Carboni, Public Information Officer for the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office.
One teacher went to the hospital for treatment of her injuries.
A 14-year-old student was taken into custody and the school was put on lockdown until the incident was brought under control.
"“Violence of any kind will not be tolerated in our schools," said Sheriff Bret Ibert. "Our students, teachers and staff deserve a safe environment to learn and work, and anyone who chooses to disrupt that environment with violence will be held accountable."
