The woman once considered the next person to lead the New Orleans Police Department is back on the job after a 120 day suspension.
Former Captain, now Lieutenant Sabrina Richardson was dinged by the Police Integrity Bureau after reportedly 26 instances of double-dipping while working her normal shifts with NOPD and during off-duty details.
The suspension was suggested by the PIB as needing to be longer, but according to NOPD Watchdog Skip Gallagher, speaking with WWL’s Newell Normand, the maximum NOPD suspension is 120 days.
Richardson says a lot of the details in the matter are incorrect.
Richardson was found to not to be working a detail at the Fairgrounds.
Gallagher, defending NOPD officers stated: “It’s a draining, taxing job that I think people should be well paid for and rewarded for. But, they shouldn’t be allowed to steal.”
There is still a criminal investigation of Richardson for payroll fraud underway at the District Attorney’s office.
And a second a criminal-conduct investigation is on-going with NOPD.
NOPD Public Integrity Bureau found as many as 44 irregularities, all related to off duty work conducted by Richardson.
This while Richardson was the head of the PIB.
“Police officers are in charge of enforcing the law, not breaking the law,” Gallagher says.
