Oil production in the Gulf of Mexico is on-hold in preparation of Hurricane Delta making landfall in southwest Louisiana.

According to the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement, nearly 92% of gulf oil production has stopped and 272 of the 643 manned oil platforms in the Gulf have been evacuated

Seven of 10 oil drilling rigs in the gulf have been also been evacuated and 15 of the 17 dynamically positioned ‘floating’ oil rigs have been relocated out of Delta’s path.

According to BSEE operator reports, about 92% of the current oil production and about 62% of natural gas production in the Gulf of Mexico is shut down.

Once Delta passes, the oil facilities will be inspected for damage. If cleared they will return to oil production. Any oil rigs damaged by Delta will not go back online.
