NOPD: One arrested, five hospitalized after unlicensed group home bust

A woman is in jail on elder abuse charges in connection with an investigation into an unlicensed group home operating in Algiers.

According to New Orleans police, they found multiple elderly people living inside that group home when they responded to an elder abuse complaint regarding the facility on Sullen Place near Maumus Avenue. Three of those people were transported to area hospitals by EMS. Another victim was taken to a separate hospital. Police say a fifth resident in that home had already gone to a hospital.

Nona Burton, 65, is was booked into jail on five counts of abuse and nelect of adults.

The case remains under investigation.
