Carjackings continue to plaque the city of New Orleans with one carjacking and three attempted carjackings on Sunday.
All four incidents happened on Sunday.
According to a New Orleans Police report, police were called about a carjacking that happened at 4:11 p.m. in the 500 block of Lowerline Street.
Police say a woman was parking her car when two male suspects approached her and demanded her keys and purse at gunpoint. The woman complied and the suspects fled in the victim’s black 2013 Infiniti G37.
Three more incidents happened where the carjackers attempted to steal a car but the victim got away.
The first attempted carjacking happened at 5:33 p.m. in the 2400 block of North Johnson Street.
Police say a 41-year-old woman sitting in her vehicle when an armed man approached her vehicle on the passenger side and demanded the woman’s keys and vehicle. The woman did not comply and drove off. The suspect then fled on foot.
Six minutes later in the 1800 block Almonaster Avenue, three juvenile males attempted to carjack a 33-year-old man. The suspects approached the victim and demanded his keys. The victim refused and the suspects fled on foot according to police.
Then at 10:52 p.m. that night, police say three to four male suspects attempted to carjack a woman in the 1800 block of Soniat Street. According to police, the suspects approached the victim while she was in her vehicle. One of the suspects pointed a gun at the victim and demanded she gets out of her car. The victim called the police and the subjects fled the scene.
The victim refused and called the police and the suspects fled the scene.
