The New Orleans Police Department says four people were shot Monday evening in the St. Roch neighborhood. It happened about 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Almonaster Avenue and N. Prieur Street.
An initial NOPD police report says, “Officers responded to reports of an aggravated battery by shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers learned that four adults sustained gunshot wounds. Two victims were transported to the hospital by private conveyance, while the other two victims were transported to the hospital by EMS.”
One of the shooting victims later died at the hospital. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office has not released the name of the victim. Police are now investigating the shooting as a homicide.
This makes nine people shot in New Orleans since Sunday night.
