Two Central Louisiana residents are in the Lafourche Parish Jail after deputies say the found drugs and a gun inside their car during a traffic stop.

Anthony Monroe, 46, of Mansura, and Tabitha Stromain, 30, of Marksville, are both facing a variety of charges in connection with the case.

Acording to Sheriff Craig Webre, Monroe and Stromain were stepped by deputies and a state trooper around 12:30 a.m. Friday near the corner of LA 1 and St. Patrick Street in Raceland. Webre says the deputies arrested Monroe after he failed a field sobriety test. That's when, Webre says, Monroe ran away from the scene. According to Webre, the deputies and the trooper tried to shock Monroe with a Taser, but the stun gun had no effect on him. Monroe allegedly climbed two fences before the deputy and the trooper caught him and arrested him.

Webre says deputies found suboxone, cocaine, and a gun with an obliterated serial number in his possession.

Stroman remained inside the car during the chase. Webre says she had meth and weed in her possession.

Bail for the pair has not yet been set.
