One person is dead after state troopers say the car the victim was riding in fell off the elevated portion of the Westbank Expressway to the ground below.
The crash happened around 5 a.m.
Sunday near Gaudet Drive.
According to Louisiana State Police investigators, the driver of the car lost control of the vehicle and hit a guardrail. The car, troopers say, then fell off the elevated portion of the highway to the road below. He passenger, whom troopers say was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene. The driver was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries.
The deceased’s identity is being withheld pending notification of family.
