The suspect in a crash on the Crescent City Connection that left a pedestrian dead is now in custody.
The crash happened just after 2 a.m. Saturday on the Westbank-bound span.
According to New Orleans Police Department investigators, Donya Holmes struck a man who was walking across the bridge. Holmes allegedly drove away without seeking assistance for the pedestrian.
Police say the victim's car had been involved in a crash, forcing him to walk with the flow of traffic across the bridge.
An EMS crew pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Police are withholding his identity pending notification of family.
Holmes is now facing a hit-and-run causing death charge.
The crash remains under investigation.
