Several New Orleans Fire Department vehicles are on Howard Ave. near the Plaza Tower. New Orleans Fire Department says pieces of the building broke off and fell to the ground below.
According to the Times-Picayune | New Orleans Advocate, the paneling hit a passing bicyclist. That person was not seriously hurt, but New Orleans EMS took the cyclist to the hospital to be evaluated.
The Plaza Tower, build in the 1960s, has sat vacant for years at Howard and Loyola Avenues. Its last tenants moved out in 2002.
