Ponchatoula police investigating second shooting near Strawberry Festival grounds

Ponchatoula police say they are investigating a second shooting that happened Saturday night outside the Strawberry Festival grounds that happened minutes after another shooting inside the fairgrounds.

According to a post on the Ponchatoula Police Department Facebook page, officers responded to a shooting near the Ponchatoula Memorial Park ticket booth around 9:25 p.m. When officers responded, they found two teenaged victims, one with an abdomen wound and another with a graze wound to the leg. Five minutes later, officers responded to a shooting at the corner of 5th and Beech Streets near the Ponchatoula Community Center. According to police department officials, the victim, a third teenager, was shot in the leg.

All three shooting victims were taken to hospitals, where they are reportedly stable and “okay.”

Police say they are investigating the cases as separate incidents.
