Houma police search for woman accused of biting off officer’s ear

Police in Houma, LA say a woman bit off a part of a police officer’s ear during a disturbance call outside a bar.

As WWLTV reports, the Houma Police Department says officers responded to a call of several women fighting in the parking lot at Joni’s Bar around 12:16 a.m. Friday night.

Police say as officers attempted to break up the fight, Michelle Smith, 36, began biting one of the officer’s ears.

"During the struggle, Michelle Smith completely bit a large portion of the right ear completely off and she fled the area before she could be apprehended," police say.

The officer was taken to the hospital and is recovering. Smith is wanted on one count of second-degree battery and a warrant has been issued for her arrest.
