While Fat Tuesday may have come and gone now that the official Carnival Season is at an end in New Orleans, that doesn't mean all things Carnival-related have been played out.

You might say the next two weekends are going to the dogs when it comes to post-Mardi Gras activities.

The next two weekends parades involving costumed dogs will take place in Covington and Mandeville.

Unfortunately, due to the threat of rain tomorrow, Saturday February 17th, the 5th Annual Krewe Du Pooch Dog Parade is being postponed until Saturday, February 24th along the Mandeville lake front.

This year's theme is "Puppy Love."

However, the Mardi Paws Mardi Gras Parade will take place this Sunday, February 18th near the Covington Police Department ending at the Covington Trailhead.

It carries the theme "Bark 'n Roll, the parade in its 30th year with registration opening at 12:30 p.m. the day of the event.

Mardi Gras Guide publisher and editor, Arthur Hardy says these events are tied to animal shelters and fund raising for various causes, including animal rescue organizations.

There's a $35 registration fee per dog for Krewe Du Pooch and $25 for Mardi Paws.
