Entergy says more than 13,000 customers lost power this morning.
"An outage has been reported," the utility says on its website. "Additional information will be provided when available. We apologize for this inconvenience."
The lights went out around 6:30am in Gretna, Harvey, Terrytown and Algiers.
Power was restored to most customers by 1 p.m.
The website says, "An animal has caused an electrical short and damaged our equipment. Our crews are on site making repairs."
