Residents in the Alton Community and Pineland Park area in St.
Tammany Parish are asked to boil their water before use. the Alton Water System lost pressure due to the freezing temperatures affecting the pressure controls at the well. The boil water advisory is in effect as a precaution.
The boil water advisory affects residents in these areas:
Bon Temps, Bigner Place, Creek Condominiums, Del Oaks, Fairview Oaks Business Park, Gaslight, Indian Point, Mandeville Lake Apartments, Parkview, Penn’s Chapel Place, Pineland Park, Pineland South, Riverwalk, Steeple Place and Wedgewood.
BOIL ADVISORY is to remain in effect until rescinded by Tammany Utilities. It is recommended that all consumers disinfect their water before consuming it (including fountain drinks), making ice, brushing teeth, or using it for food preparation or rinsing of foods by the following means:
Boil water for one full minute in a clean container. The one minute starts after the water has been brought to a rolling boil.
Tammany Utilities says it will lift the boil water advisory once the Louisiana Department of Health gives an all-clear.
